ACCOMMODATIONS
GUEST ROOMS

Each bedroom is individually designed and appointed for comfort. Each room has personal climate control and is spacious enough for just the right-size desk an easy sitting chair and full access to high speed Internet. Each room has its own bathroom with 100% cotton towels and our beds are dressed with pressed 100% cotton linens. Yes, we really do iron our sheets. Each room is meticulously maintained daily. Family recipe sweets are hand delivered with a note to your room when it has been refreshed for the day.

Dency Post Stannard

Dency Post Stannard was Captain Stannard's mother and closest link to ancestral fame. She was related through the eighth generation to John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of the Mayflower.

Kenilworth Stevens

Stannard ancestor Thomas Stevens was one of the founders of Westbrook's neighboring town of Kenilworth (later renamed Clinton) in 1663.

The Scotland

In 1862, the prototype steamship Scotland was the first of its kind to sail between China and San Francisco under Captain Stannard's command.

Chloe Chapman

Captain Stannard's great-grandmother Chloe Chapman was the great-granddaughter of Reverend Thomas Buckingham, one of the ten founders of Yale College

The Nutmegger

‘Nutmegger' dates from colonial times as a nickname for Connecticut residents. Originally meant as an insult, it is now considered by many as endearing.

Captain Jedediah Post

Captain Jedediah Post, Captain Stannard's grandfather, described as a man of "great force and energy of character," was a Justice in Saybrook, the parent town of Westbrook.

The Stately Twin

Captain Stannard's ancestral links to the Mayflower include his grandfather, Lay Stannard, and his grandfather's twin sister, Jemima

Barque Daniel Webster

In 1859, Captain Stannard and his bride, Harriet, took their wedding tour on the barque Daniel Webster around Cape Horn to Asia.

Kathryn Mary is one of Jim and Mary's beloved daughters. Until 2017, her room was allocated for family and brides only. We are pleased to offer it for reservation.
